Zo zákulisia Vianočných trhov
Vianočné trhy sú krásna vec. Najmä pre tých, ktorí si ich môžu len užívať a nemusia ich pripravovať. 🙂 Ale úprimne – ani tá organizácia nie je až taká strašná. Všetko, čo stojí za to, si jednoducho pýta kúsok úsilia. Ako teda vyzerá zákulisie Vianočných trhov v Jemnej ceste?
Prípravy začínajú už v auguste, keď tvoríme harmonogramy workshopov. Chceme, aby si deti v našich „mačkách vo vreci“ našli drobnosti, ktoré sami vyrábali. Tento rok vznikali odznaky, 3D omaľovánky, ozdoby, prívesky, sviečky aj malé 3D postavičky. Za každou mačkou je kúsok detskej práce, sústredenia a fantázie.
Keď sú darčeky hotové, prichádza fáza „kde sme to dali minulý rok?“. Zhruba mesiac pred trhmi prehľadávame skrinky a krabice, hľadáme vianočné ozdoby, dopĺňame ich novými a popritom sledujeme kuriérov, či stihnú doručiť všetko to, čo sme, tradične, objednali na poslednú chvíľu. Dva týždne pred trhmi už atmosféra hustne: pripravujeme plagátiky, robíme inventúru mačiek a ladíme, čo pôjde do stánku.
Okrem osvedčených receptov sa každý rok snažíme pridať aj niečo nové. Tento rok to bol „krupicový bar“. Vôňa krupicovej kaše nám pripomína pokojné víkendové rána a detstvo, a presne tento pocit sme chceli priniesť aj vám. Tesne pred Vianocami sme sa s Peťkou vybrali na veľký nákup. Dva vozíky s neposlušnými kolieskami, my dve chodiace tam a späť medzi regálmi, nekonečné „bude to dosť?“ a „nemáme toho moc?“. Na parkovisku v zime všetko napchať do auta a v centre potom sledovať, ako sa Jemná cesta na pár dní mení skôr na sklad než na detské centrum.
V piatok pred trhmi nastupujú naše najšikovnejšie deti. Pomáhajú baliť mačky vo vreci, tlačiť a laminovať plagátiky, pripravovať výzdobu a baliť veci do krabíc. Tento rok si dokonca pripravili aj techniku, aby vám priamo na trhoch mohli vyrábať spomienkové odznaky. Na budúci rok to ešte vylepšíme, ale už teraz to bol krásny spontánny nápad.
V deň trhov naložíme do auta a vozíka „pol Jemnej cesty“ a presúvame sa do areálu múzea. Pomôžeme postaviť stánky a potom sa vrhneme na ten náš. Najväčšia výzva je neprivrieť si prsty do konštrukcie a nejako povešať vianočné svetielka, aj keď v tíme práve nemáme basketbalistov. Snažíme sa pre vás vytvoriť príjemnú, útulnú atmosféru a pre seba aspoň trochu pohodlné miesto, kde vydržíme celý deň.
O 12.30 začíname variť punče, o 13.00 ide na sporák prvá várka krupicovej kaše a o 13.30 odchádza prvý nealko punč. Odvtedy sa takmer nezastavíme. „Dobrý deň, čo vám ponúkneme?“ „Alko alebo nealko?“ „S nutelou alebo lekvárom?“ „Áno, to sú zálohované poháre.“ „Jéj, čau, teba som už sto rokov nevidela!“ Niečo sa minie, niečo treba dovariť, sem-tam vypadne elektrina (niekto kopol do predlžovačky) alebo prestane fungovať tlačiareň na odznaky, občas sa vyleje pohárik s punčom. Skrátka živý stánok.
A potom príde chvíľa, keď z reproduktora zaznie pesnička, ktorú všetci poznáme, a v stánku to ešte viac ožije. Štyria ľudia sa vlnia do rytmu, smejú sa, zákazníci sa usmievajú spolu s nami (alebo na nás). Vtedy si povieme, že presne kvôli týmto momentom to celé má zmysel. Sme radi spolu a rovnako radi sme s vami. Tešíme sa, keď vám chutí náš punč, keď majú deti radosť z mačky vo vreci, keď sa vrátite po ďalšiu lokšu alebo kelímok krupicovej kaše. A keď sa zvečerí a rozsvietia sa vianočné svetielka, vieme, že Vianoce sú naozaj za rohom.
Potom prichádza posledná kapitola – upratovanie. To, čo sme zhromažďovali posledný mesiac pred trhmi, treba zaviezť naspäť, umyť, opraviť a roztriediť. Trvá to niekoľko dní. Našťastie sú trhy len raz za rok a do ďalšieho roka človek trochu zabudne, koľko práce s tým bolo. V hlave zostane hlavne to pekné: ako nám decká aj kamaráti pomáhali, ako sme tancovali, smiali sa a spolu niečo dokázali.
Na záver už len jedno veľké ĎAKUJEME, priatelia! Boli ste úžasní a len vďaka vám to vieme a môžeme robiť. Prajeme všetkým krásne predvianočné obdobie a máme len jeden odkaz: spomaľte. Nechajte zhon za dverami a žite si svoje vlastné, krásne Vianoce. Na ne neexistuje žiadna norma ani dokonalá predstava. Dôležité je len to, aby sme si venovali čas – jeden druhému navzájom. Aj my ideme teraz trochu spomaliť a vidíme sa v Jemnej ceste po vianočných prázdninách. Krásne Vianoce všetkým! 🎄

ENGLISH: Behind the Scenes of the Christmas Markets
Christmas markets are a beautiful thing. Especially for those who can simply enjoy them and do not have to prepare them. 🙂 But honestly, the organising part is not that terrible either. Everything worthwhile simply asks for a little effort. So what does the behind-the-scenes of the Jemná cesta Christmas Markets look like?
Preparations begin as early as August, when we create the schedule of workshops. We want the children to find small items in our mystery bags that they have made themselves. This year, they created badges, 3D colouring pictures, decorations, keyrings, candles, and small 3D figurines. Behind every mystery bag, there is a piece of children’s work, concentration, and imagination.
Once the gifts are ready, the phase called “Where did we put that last year?” begins. About a month before the markets, we search through cupboards and boxes, look for Christmas decorations, add new ones, and at the same time keep an eye on couriers to see whether they will manage to deliver everything we, traditionally, ordered at the last minute. Two weeks before the markets, the atmosphere starts to thicken: we prepare little posters, take inventory of the mystery bags, and fine-tune what will go into the stall.
In addition to our tried-and-tested recipes, we try to add something new every year. This year, it was a “semolina pudding bar”. The smell of semolina pudding reminds us of peaceful weekend mornings and childhood, and this was exactly the feeling we wanted to bring to you. Just before Christmas, Peťka and I went on a big shopping trip. Two trolleys with disobedient wheels, the two of us walking back and forth between the shelves, endless questions of “Will this be enough?” and “Don’t we have too much?” Then came the winter car park mission of cramming everything into the car, and later, at the centre, watching Jemná cesta turn for a few days into more of a warehouse than a children’s centre.
On the Friday before the markets, our most skilful children step in. They help pack the mystery bags, print and laminate little posters, prepare the decorations, and pack everything into boxes. This year, they even prepared the equipment so they could make commemorative badges for you directly at the markets. Next year, we will improve it even more, but already this year it was a lovely spontaneous idea.
On market day, we load “half of Jemná cesta” into the car and trailer and move to the museum grounds. We help set up the stalls and then throw ourselves into our own. The biggest challenge is not to pinch our fingers in the structure and somehow hang up the Christmas lights, even though we do not currently have any basketball players on the team. We try to create a pleasant, cosy atmosphere for you — and at least a somewhat comfortable place for ourselves, where we can last the whole day.
At 12:30, we start making punch. At 1:00 p.m., the first batch of semolina pudding goes onto the stove, and at 1:30 p.m., the first non-alcoholic punch is served. From that moment on, we hardly stop.
“Hello, what can we offer you?”
“Alcoholic or non-alcoholic?”
“With Nutella or jam?”
“Yes, those are deposit cups.”
“Oh wow, hi, I haven’t seen you in ages!”
Something runs out, something needs to be cooked again, every now and then the electricity cuts out because someone has kicked the extension cable, or the badge printer stops working, or a small cup of punch gets spilled. In short, a very lively stall.
And then comes the moment when a song we all know starts playing from the speaker, and the stall comes even more alive. Four people sway to the rhythm, laugh, and the customers smile along with us — or at us. And that is when we tell ourselves that these are exactly the moments that make it all worthwhile. We are happy to be together, and just as happy to be there with you. We are glad when you enjoy our punch, when the children are excited about their mystery bags, when you come back for another lokša flatbread or another cup of semolina pudding. And when evening falls and the Christmas lights come on, we know that Christmas is truly just around the corner.
Then comes the final chapter: cleaning up. Everything we had been gathering for the month before the markets has to be taken back, washed, repaired, and sorted. It takes several days. Luckily, the markets only happen once a year, and by the next year, one tends to forget a little how much work it all was. What stays in our minds is mostly the beautiful part: how the children and our friends helped us, how we danced, laughed, and managed to create something together.
At the end, there is only one big THANK YOU, friends! You were wonderful, and it is only thanks to you that we can and are able to do this. We wish everyone a beautiful pre-Christmas season, and we have just one message: slow down. Leave the rush outside the door and live your own beautiful Christmas. There is no standard for it, no perfect image it has to match. The only thing that matters is that we give our time to one another.
