Vedecké dielničky Jemnej cesty
Posledné roky len zdôraznili, aká je veda v spoločnosti skutočne dôležitá. My v centre Jemná cesta navyše vieme, že keď sa deťom veda správne podá, vie byť pre ne aj veľmi zábavná. Počas celého roka mávame pre deti pripravené vedecké dielničky v rámci našich pravidelných aktivít. Počas roka sme skúšali fyzikálne, chemické aj biologické experimenty a z týchto všetkých sme na Obecné slávnosti Rohožník 2022 vybrali tie, ktoré deti najviac bavili.
Prvé stanovište bolo venované elektrine. Jednak si deti pod dohľadom skúseného elektrikára mohli postaviť obvody elektrickej stavebnice, ale mohli si vyskúšaj aj jednoduché experimenty so statickou elektrinou. Asi najobľúbenejším experimentom je „levitovanie vlasov“ pomocou balónika (to baví malých aj veľkých).
Pri druhom stanovišti bolo celý čas najviac ľudí (nielen detí), pretože sme tam vyrábali sliz. Sliz je z fyzikálneho hľadiska ne-Newtonovská tekutina s nestálou viskozitou. To znamená, že keď sliz natiahnete, správa sa ako tekutina a stečie vám na topánky. Ak ho sformujete do guličky, bude sa správať ako pevná látka. Aj fyzika môže byť zábavná.
Tretie stanovište bolo venované fyzikálno-chemickým experimentom. Skúšali sme či pomocou kyseliny octovej a sódy bikarbóny vieme zhasnúť sviečku, či nafúknuť rukavicu. Veľmi obľúbeným pokusom je ovocná sopka a keď sa ešte popritom môžu hrať deti s potravinárskymi farbami, to je vždy top kombinácia. Aj vy ste boli vždy zvedaví, či reálne funguje experiment s Coca Colou a „Mentoskami“? V centre sme skúšali rôzne kombinácie sladených nápojov a rôznych príchutí cukríkov. Na obecných slávnostiach sme spravili len základný experiment, ale aj tak boli výsledky veľmi efektné.
Pri štvrtom stolíku sme si vyrábali lietajúce stroje. Asi každé dieťa už prosilo svojich rodičov o to, aby mu poskladali papierové lietadielko. My sme mali pripravené návody rovno tri modely a okrem toho si deti mohli vyrobiť lietajúce UFO! Deti sa naučili, že okrem plachtenia môžu veci lietať aj rotačným pohybom. Princíp je rôzny, ale výsledok bol taký, že nám po kultúrnom dome lietali papierové objekty rôznych tvarov.
Na piatom stanovišti sme mali pre deti pripravený mikroskop, kde mala skúsená hematologička (lekár/laborant venujúci sa vyšetreniam krvi) deti zasvätiť do tajov našej najdôležitejšej telesnej tekutiny. Na poslednú chvíľu však musela pani hematologička svoju účasť na podujatí zrušiť, takže sme pre deti pripravili aspoň súbor preparátov, ktoré sme pomocou dataprojektora premietali na stenu. ENGLISH: Jemná cesta Science Workshops
The past few years have only highlighted how truly important science is in society. At Jemná cesta, we also know that when science is presented to children the right way, it can be a lot of fun. Throughout the year, we run science workshops for kids as part of our regular activities.
During the year, we explored physics, chemistry, and biology experiments, and from all of these, we selected the ones that children enjoyed most to present at the Rohožník Community Festival 2022.
The first station was all about electricity. Under the supervision of an experienced electrician, children could build circuits using an electrical kit, and they also tried simple experiments with static electricity. The clear favourite was “hair levitation” with a balloon (a hit with both kids and adults).
The second station drew the biggest crowds (not just children) because we were making slime. From a physics perspective, slime is a non-Newtonian fluid with variable viscosity. That means if you stretch it, it behaves like a liquid and drips onto your shoes. If you form it into a ball, it behaves like a solid. Physics can be fun!
The third station was dedicated to physico-chemical experiments. We tested whether vinegar and baking soda could extinguish a candle or inflate a glove. The fruit volcano was especially popular, and when children also got to play with food colouring, that was always a winning combination. And were you ever curious to see if the Coca-Cola and Mentos experiment really works? At the centre we tried different drinks and different candy flavours. At the festival, we showed just the basic version, but the effect was spectacular nonetheless.
At the fourth station, we built flying machines. Almost every child has asked their parents to fold a paper plane for them. We provided instructions for three different models—and, on top of that, kids could build their own flying UFO! They learned that besides gliding, things can also fly using rotational movement. Different principles, but the same result: paper objects of all shapes were flying around the cultural hall.
At the fifth station, we had prepared a microscope where an experienced haematologist (a doctor/lab technician specialising in blood analysis) was supposed to introduce children to the secrets of our most important bodily fluid. However, at the last minute, she had to cancel her participation. Instead, we prepared a set of slides projected on the wall with a data projector. Ever wondered what snake skin or bee wings look like up close? The children who visited the Jemná cesta science workshops now know 😉
